In the saddle through the Wesermarsh

For riders or such who want to become one the offer ranges from first riding attempts on child-friendly ponies to holidays with your own horse up to dressage and jumping training in all classes. Many farms and riding stables cater for guests, offer riding options, boxes and escort hacks. We provide suitable horse and riders stations for riders on tour and recommend the Wesermarsh to carriage drivers as there are many quiet smaller roads. If you just want to join a trip you can book a covered wagon trip or partake at a carriage parade.

The highlight of the event calendar 'around the horse' is the 'Ovelgönner horse market', which takes place annually since the year 1630 on the 1. Monday in September. The cold-blooded horse race in Ovelgönne-Strückhausen and the tournaments of rural riding enthuse a growing audience.

We invite you warmly to discover the Wesermarsh in the saddle — enjoy riding lessons and hacks in one of the nearly brake-free regions!

In the saddle through the Wesermarsh means riding between sea, marsh and moor, along locks or across the 'Wisch' in charming countryside.

Riders and horse lovers will get their money's worth here in the breeding area of the Oldenburger warm-blood horse. Whether holiday with your own horse, with or without lessons, on large horses or ponies, the Wesermarsh is horse country through and through.

Already our forefathers used and bred the Old-Oldenburg horses, a heavy warm-blood horse, which here on lush green meadows in healthy North Sea climate, grew and thrived.

Special sponsor of the Oldenburg horse was Earl Anton Günther (1603 - 1667), who bred his horses in the southern part of Stedingen the former barbican 'Weyhausen'. The earl's favourite horse, a dapple grey horse 'Kranich'”, is the community Lemwerder coat-of-arms today.

Today the lighter, modern sports horse type of the Oldenburg warm-blood take an important position in all branches of international riding. Again and again a breeder from the Wesermarsh is very happy about the success of his horses in great sporting events. The offspring romps around on our marsh meadows in summer.
Horses from the whole of Germany are being brought to us into the Wesermarsh to relax and then return healthy and happy to the home stables in October.
